I don't recommend following this video to do a Mega CD MultiBIOS install. The pins I use on the external port are not ideal and will make the MultiBIOS not work with an unmodded Mega Drive. I will update once I get some time.

Like said, NTSC-J have extra region check and won't work without patching game. Anyway if you have cheat cartridge like Gold Finger etc. it somehow bypasses this and allow play without patching. You can also flash cartridge to stealth with Unirom if you wanna see normal boot. I could make a video if needed. Works atleast with SCPH-7500 and 7000 with Mayumi v4. I wonder if anybody noticed this earlier?

Did this mod, but got a weird issue. US and EU bios boot fine, but on JP mode it often just boots into US mode. Checked the negative language line and there is continuity, tried different switchless mod on the megadrive but same result. JP bios only boots consistently if you disconnect the megadrive from the system and reconnect (and after full reboot goed back to US bios). Voltages also seem to be as expected (all ground = US, ground and 5V = Japan and 5V and ground is EU)

Recieved one of your 1-wire QSB's the other week and can't get to work. PAL games still work in 50hz, NTSC games won't boot in 60Hz but will display the "This was designed for NTSC Genesis Systems" when in PAL mode. (I have a decade old switchless hz/language mod installed in my Megadrive) Continuity is OK so soldering is fine but I noticed that the position where you tap 5v has continuity with ground on my console, any thoughts?

@@ConsolesUnleashed maybe saying it looks like shit is a bit harsh because your solder joints and everything look okay but the extra wires just seem unnecessary. At least out of the direct solder ones I've seen done they've always been fine sitting on top and still work great today. I guess really it's personal preference but if you have the solder skills to direct solder it's going to leave the inside looking as natural as possible.

Hey man, how different is this when installing region free on an Australian SCPH-102 PSOne Slim model? I saw the chips available on your store and was hoping to see if you were able to give insight onto the process before I look to purchasing it to play American games. Thanks!

A few more solder points on pins and the side of components, but still not too difficult. There should be a guide showing the install points for SCPH-102 on my site. The ONEchip guide. There are some posts of Facebook and Twitter that show a recent SCPH-102 install.

How does a Japanese ps1 not play pal games? Its 50/60hz so it should be fine right?

Hi. The Japanese BIOS has an extra check that the EU and NA consoles don't have.

Hi, I have a MM3 chip for my 9000 series console. It hasn't been installed yet and I'd like to know if there are any issues with the MM3 if so are the any other modchips that are more reliable as well as fully compatible with all PS1 games? Thanks.

Hi. I think you will be okay with it. Mayumi4 is good, but they are pretty much the same. There's the newer PSNee but this uses an arduino board so is much more complicated to program and install. I mostly use my PSIO now and very rarely use the drive any more.
